For post-acute and SNF physician groups
Provider scheduling for groups that round in many nursing facilities.
Assign, publish, and stop answering “where am I tomorrow?” Providers see their shifts on their phone, facilities get a live link, and changes notify everyone.
A post-acute group is the inverse of a hospital department: one group of providers spread across many buildings it doesn't run. Twelve physicians and NPs might cover twenty nursing facilities, and the people who most need the schedule, the director of nursing, the front desk and the answering service after hours, don't work for you. ClinicShifts is built around getting the schedule to them.
Provider shift scheduling, not patient appointments.
Built for groups that round in many buildings
Three people depend on the schedule, and ClinicShifts is built for all of them.
Practice administrators and medical directors
You build the schedule and answer for it. One board for every facility instead of one spreadsheet per building, and changes that announce themselves.
Physicians, NPs, and PAs rounding in several buildings
They need one answer: where am I tomorrow? It's in their phone and their calendar before they think to ask.
Nursing facilities and answering services
They need to know who is coming and when. A live link to their own schedule, no login, no emailed PDFs.
Where a multi-facility schedule breaks, and how ClinicShifts handles it
Facilities call your office to ask who is coming
Every facility keeps its own idea of the schedule: last month's PDF, a note at the nursing station, a text from a provider. When those don't match, the facility calls your office, and someone stops what they're doing to look it up.
How ClinicShifts handles it: Each facility gets a live link to its own roster. No login and no PDF attachments. The director of nursing bookmarks it once, and facility staff can subscribe to be emailed whenever their schedule changes.
A call-out turns into a morning of phone calls
A provider calls out at 6:40 a.m. Someone has to find cover, then tell the covering provider, the facility and the answering service, usually from a phone and before rounds start.
How ClinicShifts handles it: Reassign the shift in the iOS or Android app and publish. The providers involved are emailed automatically, and so is any facility contact subscribed to that location. Nobody in your office sends an email.
Double bookings across buildings
The conflicts that hurt are cross-facility: the same provider in two buildings on the same morning, a provider booked on a day they asked off, a part-time NP scheduled on a Tuesday when they only work Mondays and Wednesdays.
How ClinicShifts handles it: ClinicShifts flags each of these on the shift card the moment you assign, and the provider picker shows who is on time off before you choose. On-call shifts can be marked virtual, so they sit on the same board without being flagged against in-person rounds.
Answering services work from a stale list
After hours, the answering service needs to know who covers each building tonight, not who covered it when the list was last emailed.
How ClinicShifts handles it: On-call coverage lives on the same schedule as rounding. Give the answering service the live links for the facilities they cover, and they see the current roster, including a change made an hour ago.
Next month leaks out before it's ready
In a shared spreadsheet, providers see next month while you're still moving people around, and screenshot a version that changes twice before the first.
How ClinicShifts handles it: Build in draft. Providers see shifts only once you publish them, and you can publish a day, a week, or the whole month. Notifications go out only then.

Frequently asked questions
- Does ClinicShifts replace PointClickCare or our EHR's scheduling?
- No. Your EHR schedules visits: which residents a provider sees and when. ClinicShifts schedules coverage: which provider is in which facility, who takes over on a call-out, who is on call, and whether the facility knows. It doesn't sync with the EHR and holds no patient data.
- Do nursing facilities need an account to see the schedule?
- No. Each facility gets a link to its own live schedule that opens without a login. Facility staff can subscribe to be emailed when their schedule changes.
- How many facilities can we add?
- As many as you cover. Facilities are unlimited; you pay $10 per month for each provider who can be assigned to shifts, and admins who never take a shift are free.
